Draft Detection

Prior to the draught detection test, we meticulously address any external openings to the external wall by temporarily sealing them. We then ensure that all external doors and windows are closed tightly, and all electrical appliances are turned off. This provides us with accurate results relating to the presence of draughts within the home.
This ensures any cracks or caps within the building fabric are efficiently identified.

In order to locate air leakage, we use a blower door test. Before this process begins, a number of steps must first be taken; we ensure that all vents are closed, a chimney balloon is placed within the fireplace, and any extractor fans located within the home are temporarily sealed. This ensures that we close off any of the external openings to the external wall. Once this process is completed, the fan for the blower door test is then turned on and we can accurately detect air and heat leakage within your home.

By detecting drafts in your home you can isolate areas in your home where heat is lost. This process can result in a home that retains heat more efficiently and is more comfortable, and can ultimately save you a significant amount of money on your energy bill.

It's estimated that an energy consumer loses up to 30% of their heat if their home is draughty. By identifying these areas of energy waste, you can make significant reductions on your home heating bills.
